The Battle for the Crystal Axe is a Border Battle for Better

Wisconsin vs. Minnesota

The Battle of the Crystal Axe | 2025 Recap

The rivalry reaches a fever pitch! We are thrilled to announce the 4th Annual Border Battle for Better on July 17th at StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater, Minnesota.

After Minnesota’s 2024 victory at The Meadows, Wisconsin answered with a win of its own last summer in The Dells. The Gophers are determined to bring the Crystal Axe back home, but the Badgers have their sights set on defending it and spoiling the party on the road.

Legends from both the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin will face off in an elite 18-hole scramble. Most importantly, this event raises vital funds for The Crystal Axe Charities Inc (501c3), supporting life-changing organizations in both states.

Prepare for a day of premier golf, live entertainment, and a charity auction. Tickets are limited and sell out fast, so sign up today! Evans Transportation looks forward to seeing you on the course for a fun, competitive, and impactful event.

The Charities

On the Minnesota side, we’ll be working with former University of Minnesota football player, and six-time cancer survivor Casey O’Brien’s charity Team One Four. Casey is working to raise one million dollars to transform the 9th floor at M Health Fairview Children’s Masonic Hospital. The transformation will include both capital improvements to upgrade facilities as well as expanded and enhanced programming.

The mission of Team One Four is to create a space that’s as inviting, positive, and fun as a hospital can be.

On the Wisconsin side, we’ll be working with SOFA-Saving Others For Archie and Meta House.

SOFA was founded in memory of Archie Badura, a 19-year-old who tragically died from a fentanyl overdose in 2014. Archie's family established SOFA to raise awareness about the dangers of opioid addiction and to prevent similar tragedies. By raising awareness and advocating for change, SOFA strives to create communities free from the dangers of opioid misuse and fentanyl poisoning, ensuring tragedies like Archie's become a rarity.

Meta House, located in Milwaukee, WI, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women and families overcome substance use disorders. Through residential and outpatient treatment programs, Meta House provides comprehensive support, including therapy, parenting resources, and job readiness training, all in a family-centered environment. By empowering women on their path to recovery, Meta House creates lasting change, helping rebuild lives and strengthen communities.
